Shrews are very cute little mammals. There are many species of shrews that live all over the world. Especially in Africa. They are tiny but smart, so they have been able to adapt to the challenges of nature. They live on the Earth for more than 30 million years. According to scientists, elephant shrews are one of the few monogamous mammals, making them a model group for studying monogamy in the animal kingdom. During our first summer in Finland, my husband and I went to the zoo in Korkeasaari. What do you think was one of the first animals we saw? Yes, an elephant shrew. We smiled at each other. When we got home, I started drawing this picture. This is my first colored pencil drawing. After I finished it, I realized that I had never seen this kind of shrew before. Why not? Because I made a mistake in choosing the colors. So I drew a non-existent shrew. 😄
