During our first week in Finland from the window of the bus we saw a large field embraced with forests. At the end of this field was a sports center. As we found out later, many cross-country ski trails run through the field. We wanted to go there. A few weeks later the temperature began to rise. It was only minus five degrees, so we took the dogs out to explore the area. We found ourselves in the middle of the field. The snowy landscape was so peaceful and serene. We remembered the crowded and noisy big city in another country where we used to live and felt very lucky to be here. To me, the way people maintain silence and peace also says a lot about the values and culture of a society.
